1. Babies Born Prematurely: Neonatal Unit and Community IAIM Classes. Cherry Bond English 7.5 The overall goal of this workshop is to improve CIMI’s knowledge and practice regarding preterm babies, both in the neonatal unit and following discharge in our baby massage classes. CIMIs attending will find it a relevant addition to their IAIM training whether they are a health professional or a mainstream Instructor.
2. Empathic Communication: to Listen, to Welcome and to Promote Trust in Parents. Giuditta Giuseppina Mastrototaro Italian 8 This workshop focuses on the powerful tool of listening to parents to create a favorable atmosphere in our classes. We will be more aware of the feelings and the needs behind the parent’s communication so that we can meet those parents with acceptance and an open heart.
3. Aware Communication: Management of Emotions and Disagreements. Giuditta Giuseppina Mastrototaro Italian 8 How many times have we felt that emotions were managing the way and the tone with which we were relating? This workshop aims to promote the growth of awareness of our way of communicating with parents and between CIMIs that work together.
4. Reflex Integration. Deborah Lipschits Dutch, English, Swedish, Spanish 12 This workshop gives a broader knowledge about the reflexes, including how to recognize a reflex and when it gets elicited through touch. We discuss the function of reflexes and information on integration and how infant massage/gentle movements are of importance to help to integrate the reflexes.
5. The Massage and the Families of the Heart: Adoptive and Fostering Families. Daniela Nebuloni Italian, English, Spanish 8 This workshop provides CIMIs with useful tools to support the “ nurturing parental” in foster families through empathic communications made by the massage, as proposed by the IAIM. It will improve the CIMI’s perception skills to address each situation as a unique event hence enhancing child resources and allowing CIMI a rewarding approach.
6. Preterm Babies: from Positive Touch to Massage. Isa Blanchi Italian 16 This workshop is addressed both to CIMIs working in NICU and CIMIs working in class with preterm babies or other babies who have also been in the NICU. The students will increase knowledge on development, cues, behavioral states, risk factors, NICU environment and how to support families both in the NICU and after discharge from hospital.
7. Postpartum Depression and Touch Relationship. Catia Pugi Italian 12 This workshop gives knowledge about postpartum depression and the consequences on the mother, on the child, within the relationship between mother and child. The CIMI learns to act with respect while remaining in the role of an IAIM instructor.
8. The Massage and the Baby with Special Needs. Francesca Gheduzzi Italian 16 This workshop focuses on the adaptation of the touch, posture and reading babies cues in special situations. We reflect on the emotional phases the parents may go through and how to adjust and respect the whole family in bonding through learning infant massage.
9. Supporting Parents in Special Situations: Babies Born Prematurely in Hospitals and at Home. Baby/Child with Special Needs, & Massage Adaptations. Mia Elmsäter Swedish, English 13

Day 1: CIMIs will have another understanding of some of the terminology. They will learn to recognize some of the subtle cues. They will have a tool to use if they are allowed to visit a parent whose baby is in the NICU. We will go through the 5-Step Dialogue and talk about how to support the parents both in the NICU (if allowed in) and after the baby comes home.

Day 2: The students will feel more confident to welcome parents whose baby has special needs into their parent/baby class or to hold a private one-to-one class for them. They will learn how to support these families in different ways. The workshop will provide the CIMI with knowledge on how to work together with the parent finding the best adaptation for the baby/child. The workshop also touches research and marketing.

10. CIMI’s Commitment: Marketing Strategies Based on Beliefs. Francesca Ferrante Italian 8 This workshop will help the CIMI to:
  • understand, accept, and use personal skills and limits to better define their own marketing strategy.
  • choose a marketing strategy based on Positive Economy Principles and Lateral and Creative thinking.
  • adapt inner marketing and creative thinking tools to the diffusion of IAIM mission and to the profession of CIMIs.
11. The Delicate Art of Listening to your Baby. DeAnna Elliott USA English 7.5 Following this workshop the workshop participant will be able to:
  • assist parents to understand the releasing process in a new way – as communication
  • guide parents during the releasing process to do active listening without self-judgment that what the baby is crying about is all their fault
  • assist parents to be the facilitator of transformation for their own baby by listening to the release cry, rather than trying to make the baby be quiet.
12. The Presence of Fathers in Infant Massage Classes. Federica Martinelli Italian 4 This workshop will highlight the father’s role in the family and help CIMIs to support fathers in their infant massage classes. They will also learn ways to support families in the first year of the newborn baby’s life and how to encourage the fathers. Through her presentation, Federica also highlights the different benefits of having fathers attending infant massage classes.

The CIMI will learn how to use an Infant Massage promotional workshop as a way to promote their IAIM parent classes. They will learn how to lay the basis for the successful preparation and execution of a promotional workshop and how to recognize and meet the needs of the parents and babies we have in our workshops.
14. Facilitating Relaxation in IAIM Classes. Crystal Miles English 2 In this workshop the CIMI will learn to understand the IAIM ethos behind facilitating a relaxation. Crystal will focus on the effect relaxation has on the body and mind, and will give participants ideas, exercises, and examples for relaxations to use in IAIM classes.
15. Marketing Strategies for your IAIM Classes Crystal Miles English 8 In this workshop the CIMI will improve their understanding of a wide range of modern online marketing tools. Topics covered are: importance of branding, how to improve online visibility, basic knowledge of creating a website and basic understanding of social media.
16. Creative Freedom: Divergent Thinking in Group Experiences and with Families. Francesca Ferrante Italian, English 4 This workshop aims to deepen the awareness of the dynamics of thought and choice of mind. By implementing knowledge from this workshop, CIMIs will be able to use effective communication strategies in their massage groups.
17. Listening to the Class: Facilitate the Learning of Infant Massage in Classes. Federica Martinelli Italian 4 This workshop will help CIMIs in their support of the parents in Infant Massage Classes. By using the elements in this workshop, they will improve their listening and communication skills. The workshop will give examples on how to give information before the class, how to set up the room, icebreakers and discussion.
18. Observation: an Instrument for Fostering Relationships. Federica Cavinato Italian 7 Having knowledge of observational processes leads to greater awareness and less judgment. CIMIs will learn about important elements to foster the relationship, how this helps self-assessment processes, how modeling strategies or interventions in the environment can empower the parents and nurture the relationship between parents and child. Ample attention is given to parental evaluations and to our self-evaluations: reflection and sharing to grow in awareness.
19. Refine, Reset & Refresh: take your IAIM Classes to the Next Level. Caroline Robertson English 6 Following this workshop, you will enhance your confidence and competence in delivering this beautiful programme, by refining your facilitation skills, resetting your teaching space, and refreshing your teaching aids. Helping parents and babies feel deeply held and nurtured by you and your teaching environment by making some subtle yet significant tweaks to your approach and resources.
20. Increase your Business and Improve your Communication to Train more Parents as a CIMI. Laura Caldironi French 8 Following this workshop participants will be able to build a communication strategy, choose their communication tools using them in an effective way. 21. Set up and Launch your Baby Massage Activity. 22. Facilitating IAIM Classes. Sylvie Hétu English, French 7 This workshop is for all IAIM instructors wishing to bring full awareness and depth to their facilitation skills of IAIM parent and baby classes. We will be covering basic principles in facilitation, main chaotic situations and how to overcome them, personal challenges in facilitating, as well as how to successfully run our IAIM class theory and discussion parts. Participants will receive the acclaimed book, Facilitating IAIM Classes.
