Join us in Williamsburg, Virginia, for an IAIM Instructor Training designed to prepare you to teach infant massage with confidence and compassion. This internationally recognised programme, created by Vimala McClure and delivered by IAIM certified trainers, provides a comprehensive foundation for working with parents and babies. During the training, you’ll learn the IAIM curriculum, practice hands-on facilitation, and explore adaptations for premature babies, additional needs, and family settings. Williamsburg offers a welcoming setting with its unique blend of history and community warmth, making it an inspiring place to begin your journey as an infant massage instructor. Participants will leave with the skills, resources, and membership support needed to run classes for parents and families, promote healthy parent–infant bonding, and contribute to the IAIM international network of instructors.

The IAIM instructor training offers you a wonderful opportunity to support parents by helping them to learn how to lovingly and respectfully communicate with their babies through massage.

IAIM Instructor training:
Internationally recognized Vimala Mc Clure 4-day training programme, is delivered by IAIM certified trainers worldwide. If translation occurs, training is 5 days. If training is online, it is always live streamed. Number of days is determined by Trainer(s).
IAIM trainers have in common passion, and commitment to this work for many years, keeping high level of standards in all visited countries, ensuring continuity of philosophy.

Knowledge base:
IAIM Instructor training’s 15-point core curriculum focuses on parent-baby class facilitation, adaptation to child development (birth to 1 year) to promote infant secure attachment experiences. Adaptations for babies with additional needs, babies born prematurely and the growing child are also part of the curriculum.

Experience :
You will practice “live” with parents: teaching part of a class during your training under Trainer supervision.

Confidence :

Through a Certification process post-training, you will develop your 5-session infant massage classes with parents in your community or agency and complete an open-book exam to get qualified as Certified Infant Massage Instructor (CIMI)* supported at all time by your trainer.
*In the US, Certified Infant Massage Educator (CEIM).

After training, what will you be able to do?

You will become an IAIM member to receive your chapter’s support.
As trained instructor (educator) you will work first at your certification.
You will be able to teach parents and families in private, group, hospital and agency settings with full IAIM recognition of your professionalism once certified.
In addition to teaching parents, you will be qualified to present information about infant massage in your community, conduct in-service programs, present at professional conferences and participate in research studies.

Teaching infant massage offers a rewarding opportunity to enhance parent-infant bonding, improve and maintain the physical well-being of babies, and facilitate long-term, positive emotional development in families.

The IAIM instructor training designed by Vimala Mc Clure is regularly updated by the IAIM circle of trainers. IAIM qualified Trainers underwent a 2-year extensive training after a minimum of 5 years teaching parents (know more Become a Trainer).
